Delia is an experienced, bilingual Educational Diagnostician for the State of Texas who is driven to collaborate in an environment that promotes individualized learning for children with disabilities. She received her Master’s degree in Special Education with a diagnostician certification from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Delia has been teaching since 1998. She taught first, second and third grades before becoming a dyslexia teacher. Delia believes that is important to create a positive and respectful relationship with every student, parent, and co-worker. She makes it her goal to provide students with a caring, supportive, and happy environment where all students can achieve their best.

Carla Proctor, PH.D

Carla is a highly experienced educational diagnostician and dyslexia therapist who has a passion to help diverse children and adults with learning disabilities including dyslexia and related disorders reach their academic potential to achieve their hopes and dreams of being successful. She holds multiple certifications, including Registered Professional Educational Diagnostician, Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician, Certified Academic Language Therapist, and Licensed Dyslexia Therapist. With a doctorate in Special Education from Texas Woman’s University and training from the Texas Scottish Rite Dyslexia Therapist Training Program. She has dedicated over 25 years to helping diverse learners of all ages overcome disabilities.
Since 2010 she has worked extensively in public schools, charter schools, private schools, and adult literacy programs to test individuals of all ages for disabilities. She has developed several tools to help evaluators with identifying and recommending effective interventions for children with learning disabilities including dyslexia and related disorders. She has worked extensively in public schools (elementary, middle, and high schools) and adult literacy programs, providing dyslexia therapy for 17 years.

Edna E. Morales

Edna is a bilingual educational diagnostician who is dedicated to helping students and parents by providing diagnostic information and working cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities. Literacy being her professional passion, she received her master’s degree in Advanced Reading from Concordia University in Austin, Texas. Soon after she completed her educational diagnostician certification program from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
Edna taught first, third and fourth grade before becoming a dyslexia teacher for elementary and middle school. She has comprehensive experience ensuring students with dyslexia and related disorders are provided with appropriate services and supports.
Frequently asked questions
YES, these diagnostic tests can be done remotely with fidelity. The evaluator will be contacting the child’s parents to give them complete directions on exactly how the remote testing will be conducted. A Zoom/TEAMS meeting or several meetings will be used for the testing. We want to make sure the most accurate results happen. At HCDS, we can give a child breaks during the testing when it is evident that the child is getting tired.
If it sounds as though Hill Country Dyslexia Services is a good fit for you, an ‘In-Take’ form will be sent by email/scanned to you. The ‘In-Take’ form is vital and a part of what is included in the final report. The information that you supply will help the evaluator know your child from a parent/guardian/grandparent point of view. The ‘In-Take’ form is very detailed including family history, infant history, and academic information.
After the completed ‘In Take’ document is filled out, returned and the deposit is paid, an evaluator will contact you to schedule a time for the remote testing to begin.
The time frame is 30 school days after the testing is complete. The evaluator will give you an exact date.
After the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report (scanned to you for your records) as well as a planned phone/Zoom/TEAMS meeting with the evaluator. This report will provide a breakdown of the current skills along with a visual representation so that anyone can review the report and get a clear understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses.
Yes, this professionally written document can be submitted to your child’s school. Your child’s report will contain the evaluator’s suggestions toward getting the correct interventions or accommodations. Recommendations based on the needs of your child will be included. They could be (this list is not inclusive):
Classroom and testing accommodations
Suggestions of remediation programs
Appropriate books & videos
Each child has specific needs. The evaluator will use their professional judgment when deciding on a standardized assessment.
A list of the test(s) typically used will be provided along with the In-Take form.
