Creative Writing Classes for Kids
“Writing Warriors Camp” is a unique writing opportunity for your student to get the fundamentals of writing in a focused and fun hands-on experience. Using art projects, food and other tactile experiences, students will engage their senses as they learn descriptive writing, the elements of a good story, how to organize their writing, essay formats, transitional phrases, introductions, and conclusions. This is an ideal experience for a creative and energetic student. The teacher to student ratio will be low so your child can get the maximum 1-1 help on creative and essay style writing. The class consists of ten two-hour sessions.
**Writing Warriors Camp for students in Grades 1-4 will be held from 9-11 a.m., Monday through Friday.
**Writing Warriors Camp for students in Grades 5-8 will be held from 1-3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Who can attend Writing Warriors Camp?
Writing Warriors is a summer camp program for children finishing 1st grade through 8th grade. Writing Warriors camp is open to both dyslexic and non-dyslexic students.

June 21-25, 2021 & June 28-July 2, 2021
What is the location of Writing Warriors Camp?
Writing Warriors will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in the Education Building, located at 1250 Belvin St, San Marcos, TX 78666.
Will Writing Warriors Camp also be offered virtually?
No, Writing Warriors Camp will only be offered in-person.
What time is Writing Warriors Camp?
Camp will be held for students in Grades 1-4 from 9-11 a.m., Monday through Friday.

How much does Writing Warriors cost?
$185 per week and $165 per each additional sibling. This includes all fees such as materials, supplies, and snacks.

Do I have to register for both weeks?
No, students can register for either Week 1 or Week 2.
If you DO want your child to be in camp for BOTH weeks, please let us know.
When should I register?
Register as soon as possible. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
There is a June 10, 2021 cut off to register for either or both weeks.
Will food be provided?
Snacks and bottled water will be provided; however, your child is welcome to bring their own snacks and water bottle, if they wish.
Will my child have to bring their own supplies?
Supplies will be provided. Each student will have their own set of individual supplies for camp.
How are campers grouped?
Campers will be grouped by grade level and age range.
What COVID-19 safety procedures safety measures will Writing Warriors have in place?
Writing Warriors will follow all district and county expectations and mandates. Masks are required for all staff and students.
The temperature of each child will be taken when arriving in the Education Building.
If your child has been exposed or is beginning to get the Covid symptoms, please keep your child at home. We will discuss a camp credit, if needed.
Who teaches at Writing Warriors?
Highly trained and certified literacy specialists will teach and facilitate all lessons and activities at Writing Warriors Camp.
